We had a fantastic turnout for the talk on 9 March 2023 by Rachel Evatt from Sunart Fields rewilding project. Rachel’s account of ‘one farm’s journey to manage the land for nature’ was inspirational and passionate, but also practical and realistic. Rewilding isn’t scary – it’s happening on a farm near you, and it works!
In March 2020, together with her husband, Rachel bought 125 acres of farmland in Derbyshire with the expressed intention of improving biodiversity, by taking a rewilding approach. Three years later, this is an account of the experience of taking on a farm, the ups and downs along the way, hope in the form of nature, and the vision for the future at Sunart Fields.
An untimely blizzard meant that the talk was given over Zoom instead of at Cutgate as planned, but that meant we could easily record it, so here it is for you to enjoy.
