There are over fifteen recorded species of mammals including both Roe and Red Deer, Fox, Badger, Stoat, Common Shrew and Field Mouse found in the area. Pipistrelle bats are found along the canal and Water Voles, one of the most at risk mammals in the UK still have a healthy population along some of the brooks in the borough.

Roe Deer have increased significantly in numbers over recent years, taking advantage of the new areas of woodland planting, and are sometimes found in people’s gardens.
