Rochdale Field Naturalists Society members have kept records of local wildlife for nearly 150 years, but why?
What use is made of all that data? Well, now is a chance to find out about one of the ways our hard work makes a real, practical, difference.
There will be a talk at 7pm on Thursday 31st March 2022, on Zoom, by Teresa Hughes, Senior Ecologist, Planning and Transport, Greater Manchester Ecology Unit.
This event is for RFNS members only – a link will be emailed to members shortly before the meeting. It is an extra event to our normal programme as we’re grabbing an opportunity to find out, from the people that know, about some things that are of great interest to anyone in Rochdale who cares about nature.
The exact agenda is yet to be decided, but the talk will try to cover some of the following:
- the GIS mapping of our data and how that is used to inform advice to planning committees in Greater Manchester
- Translocation of some species from Kingsway site
- Biodiversity Net Gain
- The District Level Licensing Scheme for Great Crested Newts
- The GM Nature Recovery Programme and how we can help
There should be opportunities for questions.
Teresa is very familiar with Rochdale having worked on the Kingsway scheme since 1994. She left GMEU for a while and then returned in 2012.
