Here’s your opportunity to explore the legendary greenwood that is Sherwood. The forest is a magical destination for everyone who wants to enjoy this beautiful ancient woodland and the diverse flora and fauna that lives here. It is also, of course, home to the enduring legend of Robin Hood.
The coach trip on Saturday 15th June is to the RSPB reserve at Sherwood Forest in Nottinghamshire.
This a large well organised reserve with a cafe and all mod cons. It is famous for its ancient oak trees but there is a lot of other wildlife interest, birds, insects, fungi and plants as well. There are 4 way marked trails from ¾ of a mile to 4 miles and you can wander with the group or explore on your own.
Adjacent to the reserve and accessed from it, is the Budby Forest which is a heathland habitat, with completely different species. As well as lizards and butterflies there should be wood lark, yellow hammer, tree pipit, linnet and nightjar. There are also long-horn cattle grazing in the area.
The trip is open to friends and family. The coach will leave Manchester Road cul-de-sac at 9.00am prompt and set off on the return journey at 5.00pm.
